Custom Deck Building in Colorado Springs
Decks built by a carpenter, from the footings up.
Paragon Fence Co builds custom decks in Colorado Springs. Pick your decking: Trex or Armadillo composite, redwood or pressure-treated. We also do galvanized steel frame builds, Fortress or custom railing, deck stairs, covered decks and pergolas. Got an old deck in the way? We demo it and haul it off as part of the job. I've been doing carpentry for over 10 years, and decks are a big part of what I build. When the building permit is on your estimate, we pull it, and your estimate shows real numbers.

How I Build It
Look at the yard with you. We look at the house, the doors, the slope and how you want to use the deck. Then I measure everything.
Design and written estimate. Size, frame, decking, railing, stairs, any cover or pergola, old deck demo and haul-off, and permit work. Every piece gets a real number.
Permits and HOA. We can pull the building permit when it's on your estimate. HOA approval is yours, so get that ball rolling early.
Footings first. We call 811 before we dig, so the public utility lines get marked. 811 doesn't mark private lines, like sprinklers or a line to a detached garage, so show us where yours run. Then we set the footings and get through any inspections the permit calls for.
Frame, decking, railing. The frame goes in square and level. Then the decking goes down, and the railing you picked goes on top.
Walkthrough and cleanup. We walk the finished deck together and go over every detail. Then we clean up.

FAQs
How much does a deck cost in Colorado Springs?
It depends on size, height, framing, decking and railing. I price it after I see the yard, and the estimate shows real numbers.
Do I need a permit for a deck in Colorado Springs?
Most decks do. Pikes Peak Regional Building only skips the permit for a small detached deck: 200 square feet or less, no more than 30 inches off the ground near its edges, and not serving the home's required exit door. Zoning setbacks still apply to any deck, and we can pull the permit when it's on your estimate.
Who handles HOA approval for a new deck?
You do. HOA approval is between you and your association, so start early so it doesn't hold up the build.
Should I go with composite, redwood or treated decking?
I build with Trex and Armadillo composite, redwood and pressure-treated wood, and composite doesn't need staining like wood does. Redwood and treated decking are real wood, and sun and weather work on them, so plan on some upkeep. I can put the options on your estimate so you see real numbers side by side.
Can you build a deck on a galvanized steel frame?
Yes. Galvanized steel frame builds are one of the decks we offer, finished with composite decking and the railing you choose.
Do you build covered decks and pergolas?
Yes. I build deck stairs, covered decks and pergolas, either with a new deck or on their own. They go on the same estimate, so you see the whole project at once.
How long does it take to build a deck?
It depends on size, permits, HOA approval and weather. Permit review and HOA approval can add time, so start those early. Your estimate gives you a real schedule.
